Meet the team

We’re a friendly, enthusiastic bunch, super keen to welcome your students

Through our own experiences of living abroad, and teaching and working with international students, we understand the challenges of spending time in another country, especially where your own language is not spoken.

Working at Don’t be a tourist gives us the chance to go the extra mile (literally) to make visitors to the UK feel safe, welcome, and have them coming back for more. Find out more about the members of our team below…

Frustrated by the lack of resources available to provide good quality trips for his students, Nevil left his university lecturer job to set up Don't be a tourist. 9 years on, he still can't help jumping back on the bus to lead a trip.

Founder, Director

After time at the Finnish Institute of Sporting excellence, and travelling throughout Scandanvia and Eastern Europe, Katy's now settled with us in her role developing institutional partnerships.

Account Manager

A world record holder (for remembering capital cities in 1 minute), a conservation project volunteer in Mauritius and an expedition leader in Iceland, we're happy to have Al organsing our trips.

When she's not leading expeditions in Norway, Slovenia and Scotland as an RAF reservist or on fieldwork in Uganda, Kenya or Southern Sudan for her PhD, Shona's leading trips across the UK with us.

Trip Leader

Previously an International School sports and dance teacher, Katy-Lou's now her university's Welfare Officer. At the weekend she's out leading trips for us, satisfying her passion for the outdoors.

Trip Leader

Being a full-time Personal Trainer at Virgin Active and one of our experienced Trip Leaders, Ross uses the self-control he teaches in Pilates classes to resist making everyone run up Arthur's Seat on our Edinburgh trip.
